Assem Abdel Razek is Professor of Anaesthesia and Surgical Intensive Care, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Alexandria in Egypt.
He is the current President of the Egyptian Society of Critical Care and Emergency Medicine, Vice President of Egyptian Society of Enteral and Parenteral Nutrition, Vice President of Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Medicine and Board Director of the Pan-Arab Critical Care Medicine Society.
Professor Razek is coordinator of the Mediterranean Critical Care and Emergency Medicine Working Group and Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Pan-Africa Critical Care meeting. He is the author of several publications in anaesthesia and intensive care medicine with a specific emphasis on patient safety, infection control, nutrition, and fluid responsiveness.
Professor Razek’s areas of professional expertise and interest include sepsis, fluid response, haemodynamic resuscitation during critical illness, nutrition of the critically ill patient, quality control and safety.
