Obashina Ogunbiyi is Visiting Professor of Anaesthesia at the Kaduna State University in Kaduna, Nigeria.
Following his graduation from medical school in 1982 he was trained in Anaesthesia and Intensive care Medicine in Nigeria and the United Kingdom. Dr Ogunbiyi was commissioned into the Nigerian Army in 1980 as a 2/Lt and following several promotions became a Maj Gen and was subsequently appointed Commander of the Nigerian Army Medical Corps and voluntarily retired from active military service in Dec 2015. Dr Ogunbiyi is the current President of the Critical Care Society of Nigeria.
Dr Ogunbiyi was responsible for supervising the establishment of a small Intensive Care Unit at the 68 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Lagos in 2014 and applied his expertise to the creation of an 8 bed Unit at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital in Nigeria.
Dr Ogunbiyi’s areas of professional expertise and interest are quality and safety in the ICU and Nutrition in the critically-ill. He is also a member of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (mni).
